The Austin-Healey Sports and Touring Club, New Jersey Region, hosted the Club’s annual four-day event, Encounter, from Aug. 14 –17, 2002. Two notable milestones, the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Austin-Healey motorcar in 1952, and the 25th anniversary of the Club’s annual convention, were celebrated at Encounter 2002. The Forrestal Village Marriott Hotel will be home base for Encounter 2002, and the Village’s streets and mall were the setting for an all-English car show on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17. More than 200 Austin-Healey’s, Triumph’s, MG’s and other marquees were on display. The registration desk, regalia room and hospitality center for Encounter, 2002, will open at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Plans for other car events include a rally on Thursday, Aug. 15, a gymkhana and funkhana on Friday, Aug. 16, and an auto parade, concourse judging and the car show on Saturday, Aug. 17.
